Bottom line, can you make a living betting on sports. I wanna sit home in my PJ's and watch games all day and make bets. Can it be done.

How much has anyone made in one year or sustained year over year income.

All depends on the size of your bankroll, and many other key factors.

My advice to you, if you seriously wanted to pursue a career as a professional, would be to find a solid MLB system or whatever, and follow it throughout the season. Time and time again I have found that systems are the best way to go, which is why starting with next year's NBA season I am going to go strictly mechanical (system plays only) and see what happens, but I really think I can make some great money.

You also need to have a large bankroll, I would say $50-100,000 if you intend on making a nice income each year, and possibly putting 15-25% of your winnings back into your bankroll to expand it into a larger one. Then just follow a proven system and cash in.

It seems pretty simple but I know first hand that it can sure get pretty complicated!

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT By having a winning system you take the emotion out of gambling and elimate chasing. Two of the major reasons for losing. If you follow a proven winning system year after year and have proper money management, you should end up a winner if you have the fortitude not to gamble on anything else. And these systems are around if you look for them.

I have a winning system myself. The problem is that it only works for preseason NFL football. It has won for me the last 8-9 years. Almost every year in the month of August I double my bankroll. If I stopped gambling after the 4th week of preseason I would be a winner every year (some chance). But at least it gives me a cushion entereing the regular season so that for many years I have broken even on my football betting for the entire season (preseason and regular) and have a lot of fun and action.

That post and the one before it are the smartest and most honest comments I've ever read or heard on the matter.

No wonder you don't know anyone who makes decent money off of gambling, what with an avatar like you have and a user title that reads, and I quote "I am smarter than you". Real good attitude to make friends in this world, huh?

You have been one of the more annoying and negative posters I have ever seen on these forums, and you sure don't disappoint in that aspect day in and day out.

Oh, and maybe you just posted all of that critiscim of systems because you lost a load on "The Iceman", Chuck Liddell. Just maybe. Sucker.

Until you have experience playing a system and not the degenerate way I am sure you gamble, leave your useless and throughly negative postings far away from any threads with at least HALF truths on this forum, which of course are far and few between. When I tell people about using systems, and combining them with proper money management, disciple and dedication, most people are apprehensive at first but then later they begin to see the light. Apparently that light still hasn't turned on for you. What a surprise.

I'm not quite sure where you saw me post that. I never once said that I was making a living betting on sports.

The argument I was trying to make was that making a decent living betting on sports is VERY possible, especially in the long-term.

One point I have to make, though, is that I don't think that it is realistic to handicap games and come out with enough profit to make a living year after year. I used to believe that it was possible, but now I see that it is only really possible if you have an enormous bankroll, superior money management, as well as many other factors. Really, I don't see how it is possible to do well handicapping year after year, since your bound to have a losing season here and there.

My point is that I believe if someone really wanted to make a living betting on sports, system play would be the best way to go. The thing is, most gambler do not have the skill, patience, dedication, and determination that it takes to follow a season all season long, no matter if it is going straight into the ground or what. You have to stick with it. You don't "venture" out and take some of your bankroll and put it on a "lock" that you see, you stick strcitly to the system, don't handicap the games (at least don't bet on games that you handicap), and play the system through the whole season.

If you are strictly betting systems, you want to look at all of the possible systems that you are going to follow, back check them many times to insure that they are good money makers or the course of a season, as well as determine the size of the unit that you are going to use. get all of that squared away and you should be good to go.

I don't like the way whale put it simply because he didn't say anything positive.

Is it possible to making a living betting on sports? Yes. Is it possible for you? Most likely not as few get access to the right opportunities or lack the traits required to do it for themselves.

If you had a LARGE BANKROLL,Disciplined Money Management,Pinnacle and Neteller plus a knack for Bonus Busting it wasn't too hard "not long ago"...

Now I imagine it's much more difficult.

it is tough, but doable. I am not there yet, but do know a gentleman by the name of "vanzack" who is and he has a lot of wisdom to hand down for those who are willing to listen.

It is easy to say no one can, anbd more difficult to actually set goals and attempt to achieve them. I am sure there are more "professional bettors" in this world than most might think.

I am a firm believer that in order to reach the pinnacle, you must set goals. I have set my goals for the next 24 months and in doing so would allow myself a $50k roll with $25k in the bank and an opportunity to not work for the "Man".

57.5% is awesome, but most fail to realize that 54-55% and you don't have to work, and that is before you facoting in a reduced juice via exchange
